If we have too much cholesterol, it deposits on the walls of the arteries, forming plaque which obstructs blood flow, with risks for the cardiovascular system (good HDL cholesterol removes excess cholesterol, bad LDL cholesterol deposits cholesterol on the walls of the blood vessels). A high concentration of triglycerides is also associated with the development of cardiovascular disease. High levels of blood lipids do not produce any symptoms: having a blood test is the only way to detect this problem.
